Carrie Gleason
Carrie Gleason is the Director of the Retail Action Project (RAP), a membership organization of New York City retail workers partnered with the Retail, Wholesale, Department Store Union (RWDSU/UFCW). RAP is dedicated to winning economic justice for NYC retail workers through strategic organizing, leadership development, policy and services. Carrie is expanding RAP's programs and membership base to both meet retail workers immediate needs and build grassroots power to raise industry standards. As a labor organizer, she has helped hundreds of low-wage workers unionize and secure the payment of unpaid wages. Prior to working with RAP/RWDSU, Carrie was a lead organizer for Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union (HERE) where she organized workers in the hotel industry and built community support for a city-wide immigrant rights campaign. Carrie is an exhibited visual artist who works in metal and creates multi-media installations. She was a 2009-2010 Charles H. Revson Fellow at Columbia University and holds a Bachelors degree from Cornell University.
