Jason Franklin
Jason Franklin, the Board Treasurer, brings expertise in fundraising, financial management and donor organizing to the North Star Fund. He is strongly committed to creating a thriving, well-managed non-profit and philanthropic sector. Jason is a lecturer on Public Administration at the NYU, Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. He is also the Deputy Director for Program Development at the 21st Century School Fund.
Jason is also an active board member of Resource Generation, an organization that organizes young people with wealth to utilize their financial resources to deepen their social and civic engagement. He got involved with philanthropy in his early twenties when he took on a leadership role in his family's foundation. According to Jason, "One of the first organizations that I connected with after I got involved in philanthropy was North Star Fund because of its connections to grassroots communities in New York City. It was a natural opportunity to connect my values to action, by giving to an organization that funds progressive work in the city where I live."
As a donor he trusts North Star Fund to move his resources to the groups at the forefront of the movement for change. "You would be hard pressed to find any grassroots social justice organization in New York City that hasn't been funded by North Star Fund."
Jason encourages other emerging donors, professionals of color, and LGBTQ donors to join our community. "North Star Fund helps new donors find their way. By expanding and diversifying our donor base we can broaden our reach, invest in more leaders and build a stronger grassroots movement."
