Thanks so much for your interest in a grant from North Star Fund. Our grants support organizations and programs within the five boroughs of New York City and the Hudson Valley that elevate community-led solutions to problems caused by racism, gender oppression and greed.
At the current time we are only accepting applications for Rapid Response grants. Our next deadline for renewal applications will be in the fall. Our next deadline for new applicants will be Spring 2025.
How to Apply
First, start by making sure that you meet our basic criteria. Some of these criteria are technical, such as your location or budget size. Others are more about how you approach your work. Our eligibility page explains both types of criteria. Then come back here.
We make different grants available at different times of year, and each grant has its own criteria and deadlines. Here are the grants that we offer. Next deadline: Fall 2024 for renewals. Spring 2025 for new applicants.
Rapid Response Grants
To support organizing, activism, and strategic convening in response to urgent threats or breaking opportunities, especially during critical junctures of a campaign. Rolling deadline.
Hudson Valley Grants
Long-term funding to grassroots groups in the Hudson Valley of New York that are building power. Next deadline: Fall 2024 for renewals. Spring 2025 for new applicants.
Let Us Breathe Fund Grants
Grants to support Black-led organizing for community safety, economic investment, and racial justice in Black communities. Next deadline: Fall 2024 for renewals. Spring 2025 for new applicants.
New York City Grants
General operating support to grassroots organizations that use organizing as a primary strategy in New York City. Next deadline: Fall 2024 for renewals. Spring 2025 for new applicants.
If you found an open grant to apply for in Step 2, you probably entered our online portal, Submittable. Then the final step is to submit your completed application by the deadline. If you do not have a Submittable login, go to Step 2, find the appropriate open grant, and enter Submittable from there.
