Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn is known to some as Little Haiti. It has become the home to a growing number of Haitian immigrants; 200,000 according to the 2000 Census. Lack of services leave many within this community with few economic opportunities and vulnerable to discrimination and exploitation in the workplace. Haitian Women for Haitian Refugees (HWHR) uses popular education tools to fight discrimination and expand opportunity.
