The Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition is celebrating thirty-five years in 2009 of broad-based, membership driven, social justice community organizing. the Coalition builds power through relational organizing and issue campaigns that recruit and train individual and institutional members, energize institutions, win concrete victories that improve material conditions for community members, change public and private policies that affect the Northwest Bronx, and alter the relations of power. The Coalition unites the Northwest Bronx communities and a youth organization, Sistas and Brothas United (SBU), in an effort to influence the most important decisions that are made about our neighborhoods; delivery of government services, private investment patterns, and major land use considerations.
