Other Ways to Give

The work for social justice takes many forms—and so do the ways of financially supporting it.

Find out how to donate appreciated stock, real property, make a bequest, and more.

North Star Fund was founded in 1979, when the city was still struggling its way out of a fiscal crisis. Cutbacks in city services were hitting low income communities first and hardest. Three decades later, we find ourselves on the brink of another financial crisis.

Year in and year out, donor activists trust us to research, select and support New York’s most effective and creative community groups working to further equality, economic justice, and peace.

Resources for Social Change

Through North Star Fund, activists receive funding to cover the fundamentals of organizing—trainings, meetings, phone bills, websites, printing, salaries, office rent. And they get technical assistance and training on subjects such as working with the media, lobbying elected officials, and building sustainable organizations. This is democracy in action, and it can’t happen without your help.
