March to Gracie Mansion to demand 30K homes for homeless NYers

October 24, 2018 @ 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

The fight to end NYC’s homelessness crisis has gotten a huge boost in the last few weeks. On October 5th, one of our fearless leaders—Ms. Flowers—confronted Mayor de Blasio at the Park Slope YMCA to demand more housing for homeless New Yorkers. The videos we filmed went viral and media from across the country reported on the action.

Now we’re marching to Gracie Mansion—the Mayor’s home. Mayor de Blasio is facing major criticism by the media for his response to the needs of homeless NYers. It’s critical that the community show up to keep the pressure on him.

What: March to Gracie Mansion to demand 30K homes for homeless NYers

When: Wednesday, October 24th, 10:30am

Where: Meet at 86th St and 2nd Ave (Q/R train stop)

Trains: Q/N to 86th St and 2nd Ave, 4/5/6 to 86th St-Lexington Ave

Contact: GG: 516-900-7455

Background on our demands: Out of the Mayor’s 300,000 affordable housing plan, only 5% of the plan—or 15,000 units of housing—are set aside for homeless NYers. We’re demanding that he at least double his commitment and dedicate 10% of his plan—or 30,000 units—to house homeless NYers, with 24,000 units of new construction to get people rehoused more quickly. We’re demanding that these 30,000 units be in addition to the 15,000 units of supportive housing that the Mayor has already committed to.
