Today, we launch #PeoplePoweredPhilanthropy, a month-long campaign asking friends like you to become North Star Fund monthly sustainers. By joining our community of donor activists, you will be part of a movement to resist, reimagine, and fight for power, wealth, and racial equity in New York.
#PeoplePoweredPhilanthropy is about putting people power front and center at North Star Fund—New York’s community foundation devoted to building grassroots power across the five boroughs and in the Hudson Valley. Our community of donors partner with our courageous grantees, support our movement leadership programs, and build cross-race, cross-class dialogues in order to create a more authentic democracy.
We are launching #PeoplePoweredPhilanthropy on June 5 with a little friendly competition between me and some of my fellow North Star friends to see who can inspire more people to help sustain the movement for social justice. Maybe you know them: Board member Alvarez Symonette; Community Food Funder’s Adam Liebowitz; North Star Fund Community Funding Committee Co-Chairs Jennifer Flynn and Zahida Pirani; and last but not least, North Star Fund’s newest team member Mayra Hidalgo Salazar and our Hudson Valley Community Funding Committee. Our challenge: who will get 30 friends, family, and colleagues to become sustainers by July 4th? We're building community and need your help!
We need people like you to join us in helping sustain the movement for the next four years and beyond. Sign up to be a sustainer today, and help spread #PeoplePoweredPhilanthropy on Facebook and Twitter!
