Elz Cuya Jones

Deputy Director

Elz Cuya Jones is a fundraiser, storyteller, and mom. Since 2015 she has been grateful and humbled to lead the all-women of color development team at North Star Fund.

Elz has worked in nonprofits for twenty years, holding development and communications positions at Harlem RBI, Youth Speaks, Women’s Project and Hip-Hop Theater Festival. Prior to working in the nonprofit sector, Elz spent a decade in news radio, where she witnessed the transformational power of storytelling.

Born to immigrant Filipino parents in the San Francisco Bay Area, Elz earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications at University of California, Berkeley.

She is an MFA candidate in the Creative Nonfiction program at Hunter College and lives in Washington Heights, Manhattan with her impossibly cute son, Bolden.
