Lloyd Martinez joined the North Star Fund Board of Directors in 2012. He brings over 16 years of nonprofit experience and a strong backgroundin philanthropy, including grantmaking, managing donor advised funds, providing philanthropic trainings and strategic giving.

Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Lloyd holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and a J. D. from New York Law School. Lloyd is currently the director of institutional gupport at American Jewish World Service.

An active participant in the struggles affecting people with HIV/AIDS, as well as LGBTQ, anti-war and reproductive freedom movements, Lloyd got involved with North Star Fund because he wanted to support an organization that is a leader in funding community organizing and activism in New York City.

“As a gay Latino, I identify with many of the groups that North Star Fund supports and its overall mission and work to improve the lives of those who are vulnerable, disenfranchised, underserved and discriminated against.”
