Christina Samuels

Born to a Jamaican mother with a penchant for what she calls “the nomadic life”, Christina has spent much of her life exploring the diverse experiences of the Black diaspora, both throughout the eastern United States and abroad. She is committed to working to dismantle structural anti-Black racism and believes that dignified housing, food, healthcare, and community self-determination are not political ideas but basic human rights.

Currently, Christina is the director of impact & capacity building at African Communities Together (ACT), a national grassroots organization advocating for just immigration policies and greater opportunities for African immigrants. Before ACT, she led South Bronx Rising Together, a Children’s Aid initiative working to better the educational outcomes for young people in the Bronx and the New York Immigration Coalition, where she advocated for educational equity for immigrant families. She holds a MA degree in Anthropology and previously participated in the North Star Fund People Power Giving Project.
