Kavita Pawria-Sanchez is the CEO of CannaBronx and a human rights attorney with 30 years of experience as a lifelong activist, community organizer and former New York City Assistant Commissioner, where she co-led the design and implementation of over $75M in social equity programs serving New Yorkers. Kavita studied public policy at Cornell University and Human Rights Law at CUNY Law School and Kavita cut her teeth in grassroots organizing at DRUM (Desis Rising Up and Moving) as a grantee of the North Star Fund in the early 2000’s. In addition to being a mother, she is also the co-founder of KPS Strategies, a solutions-oriented social justice consulting firm that creates and implements projects with communities for equitable policy change.
