Grantee Organizing

Home is where we build power.

Our grantees are what we call “hyperlocal.” They focus on very specific communities— in some cases, specific neighborhoods. This allows the creation of close, deep relationships, and an effective hyperlocal organization may just be a hundred deeply engaged people. So how can that translate into big changes?

When different hyperlocal grassroots organizations come together—often in coalitions— to work on a single issue from different geographic areas and perspectives, they multiply their reach and impact. When you look at our 140+ active grantee organizations, they’re working on literally dozens of issues. That’s too many to put in one report, so we’re highlighting four issue areas. In each case, we share examples of the different approaches grantees take to tackle them.
